Medical Assisstant/ Endoscopy Tech- Full Time
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Nursing Quality Manager, completes routine tasks and duties under the direct supervision of the physician, registered nurse and Sterile Processing Department/Endoscopy Lead Tech. Cleans, prepares, assembles, sterilizes, distributes, and ensures the quality of all surgical instruments and specific medical equipment. Inventory, issue and replenish medical supplies, instruments, and equipment in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and Endoscopy areas. Transport supplies, equipment, and potentially hazardous waste within the facility. Assists with the training of new SPD/Endoscopy Techs.

Qualifications Requirements:
Minimum Education / Training / Licensure / Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Central Supply Technician certification training course.
- Current BLS certification.
Minimum Experience:
- One (1) year experience in the surgery or ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or related experience.
Preferred Education / Training / Licensure / Certifications:
- One (1) year experience in the surgery or ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in a endoscopy, hospital or ASC setting.
- One (1) year experience working in and SPD.
- One (1) year experience working as an Endoscopy Technician.

Essential Functions
Medical Assistant
- Provides direct patient care.
- Assist nurses in preparing patients for surgical procedures.
- Obtain vital signs, assists patient with ambulation and provides safe environment for patients.
- Collect and/or prepare any laboratory specimens.
- Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintains stocks of medical supplies and conducts inventory.
- Assists with turn-over, discharge, and patient care in the clinical areas.
- Work collaboratively with nurses and physicians to ensure patient safety and quality care is provided.
Endoscopy Tech
- Prepares patients for procedures by reviewing pre/post-operative preparations and instructions.
- Provides a safe environment for patients.
- Follows standards of infection control in the maintenance of endoscopy equipment and the preparation of procedure.
- Assist RN and physician with endoscopic procedures.
- Processes scopes used in procedure.
- Collect tissue specimen under the direction of the physician/nurse utilizing the following modalities: Fulguration: Electrocautery equipment, heater probe or Bicap; Snare technique for retrieval/collection of polys; Helicobacter samples on Clotest medica; Biopsy.
- Responsible for the preparation and clean-up of procedure.
- Cleans and disinfects scopes and accessories in a timely manner following infection control and manufacturer guidelines.
- Orders and maintains inventory of supplies used and needs.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Demonstrates competency in area of specialization.
